Meet the Author

Mike Smith, MICP is the Program Chair for the Emergency Medical & Health Services programs at TCC as well as being the Lead Instructor for the Paramedic Education Program. He has been in EMS for 28 years, with 21 years as a Paramedic. His extensive work experience includes time in the municipal setting as a Firefighter/Paramedic in South Cook County, on the south side of Chicago, as well as having worked for both hospital-based and private sector paramedic services.

In addition to his work at the college, Mike travels and teaches extensively across the United States and internationally, speaking at 20 to 24 EMS conferences and symposia each year.

In addition to ACLS for EMT-Basics, he has 32 publications to his credit, including being a contributing author on 5 textbooks. Mike also writes the monthly column Beyond the Books for Emergency Medical Services magazine.
